511 Alberta: Real-Time Traffic Information for Alberta Drivers
The 511 Alberta app is a free mobile app that provides real-time road and traffic information to drivers in Alberta. The app is developed by IBI Group Mobile and falls under the Travel & Navigation category. Drivers can use the app to plan their route, anticipate delays, and get to their destination faster.
The app features a scrollable, zoomable map that displays road conditions, incidents, such as collisions and other road hazards, and over 200 cameras that are frequently updated so that users can see the conditions for themselves. In addition, users can enter a destination and get three routes with travel times displayed, save a route and set a daily time to have the app run that route before they leave so they can receive automatic notifications, and start driving with the app on to be notified with an audio alert of any delays on the road ahead of them. Lastly, the app also allows users to submit audio reports to the 24/7 Traffic Management Centre (TMC) for issues and conditions that they experience on their route.
The new version of 511 Alberta includes a completely new app that requires a new installation.
